Tip

If you find that during editing you are making the same changes over and over (either manually or via Word's find-and-replace function), let us know! There's a good chance we can write an Auto-Redact rule (or two) to automatically make those changes for you.

Protecting Text within Sponsor Summaries

In cases where there are sections of text that must be protected from the automated editorial changes made by the Auto-Redact function, such as a Sponsor Summary, the INERAPROTECTED character style may be applied.

After the correct character style has been applied to the sections to be protected, and before running the Auto-Redact process, the user will navigate to the Microsoft Word character style palette:

...

Highlight the text that should be protected from Auto-Redact, and then on the list, navigate to the style called INERAPROTECTED. This will apply the character style INERAPROTECTED to the selected paragraphs. This character style will appear as an orange shading. The original visual styling and paragraph styles will be retained. When the Auto-Redact process is run, it will not make changes to the text to which the INERAPROTECTED character style has been applied. The INERAPROTECTED character style will be removed at the end of the Auto-Redact process.
