The eXtyles Duplicate Reference Checking module warns users when two references with identical or near-identical content appear in a single reference list. It catches duplicates even when the formatting or order of elements in the two references differs, and it is especially useful for review articles or other long manuscripts with hundreds of references.
How to use
To run Duplicate Reference Checking on a document:
- Run Bibliographic Reference Processing.
Select Duplicate Reference Checking; when the process is complete, the number of duplicate references will be listed in a warning dialog and each reference will be flagged with a Word comment.
Duplication errors must be resolved manually through deletion of references and consolidation of in-text citations.
