The eXtyles About box (accessed from the About button on the eXtyles ribbon) provides information that you may be asked to provide to Inera support (if you submit a query) and access to features that may enhance the performance of eXtyles Reference Processing and PubMed Linking and Correction.
eXtyles version and build number
Our Support team will sometimes ask for your eXtyles Version and/or Build numbers. To find these, click the About button and look for a line like this:
eXtyles Version 6.0.0 for Inera Testing, Build 4658
This information tells us what your configuration should be doing, what features and modules are included, and exactly when and how your eXtyles instance was last updated. Most critically, your build and version number, along with the files you send us, allow us to replicate the circumstances of your support query!

Update Journal Database
If you’ve run eXtyles Reference Processing more than a few times, you’ve probably seen a comment like this:
Note |
---|
eXtyles does not recognize the journal XYZ (in reference "ABC"). If this is a valid journal title, please send this reference to journals@inera.com and we will add it to the eXtyles journal database. |
To ensure that you see fewer and fewer of these as time goes on, you need to do 2 things:
Submit those journal titles! This page explains how to submit a journal title to our Support team.
This button will update the eXtyles journal database, which may improve reference processing results. The eXtyles journal database is made current with every installer update you receive, but this button allows you to update this feature more frequently than your annual eXtyles release.
How long has it been since your journal database files were last updated? The About Box can tell you that, too! Look for this line:
Journal database last updated: 15 March 2021
Read more about the Update Journal Database feature here.
If your configuration is set to never update the journal database or if your configuration does not include Reference Processing, your About box will not include this button.

Update NCBI API Keys
If your configuration of eXtyles includes the PubMed Linking and Correction module you will see an Update NCBI API Keys
what does this button do
Image Removedbutton on the About box.
In 2018 NCBI implemented an API Key requirement for software that queries PubMed (e.g., eXtyles). API Keys facilitate a higher (i.e., faster) query rate for processes such as PubMed Linking and Correction, and without them this eXtyles process will complete with noticeable slowness.
Inera strongly recommends that all customers who use PubMed Linking and Correction obtain an API Key from NCBI, and instructions about how to do this can be found in our FAQ.
Once you have obtained a Key, you can add it to eXtyles via the Update NCBI API Keys button.

Not every eXtyles configuration includes this button. |
