If you’ve run eXtyles Reference Processing more than a few times, you’ve probably seen a comment like this:

eXtyles does not recognize the journal XYZ (in reference "ABC"). If this is a valid journal title, please send this reference to journals@inera.com and we will add it to the eXtyles journal database.

To ensure that you see fewer and fewer of these as time goes on, you need to do 2 things:

• Submit those journal titles! This page explains how to submit a journal title to our Support team.

• Periodically update your journal database files!

Manual updates

To update your journal database manually, instead of or between automatic updates:

1. Click the About button on the eXtyles ribbon to open the About eXtyles dialog. 

2. Click Update Journal Database to download and update your journal database files.

Automatic

updates

Automatic updates are triggered by Bibliographic Reference Processing.

When you run Reference Processing, eXtyles checks :

1. to see whether automatic updates are enabled and the schedule for those updates ,

2. how often updates are schedule (e.g., Dailydaily, Weeklyweekly, or Monthlymonthly). the date of , and

3. when the last update from a stored settingwas loaded.

If the date of the last update is older than the date most recent update prescribed by your update schedule, eXtyles will automatically run download the update process updated files before continuing to process your bibliographic references.
