| Style Name | Description of Use |
|---|---|
| Subtitle Level 1 | Used to style the first-level heading in the body of the article; this is not the same as the article title, which should use the Chapter/Article Title style. |
| Subtitle Level 2 | Used to style the second-level heading in the body of the article. |
| Subtitle Level 3 | Used to style the third-level heading in the body of the article. |
| Subtitle Level 4 | Used to style the fourth-level heading in the body of the article. |
| Subtitle Level 5 | Used to style the fifth-level heading in the body of the article. |
| Epigraph - Text | Used to style a short quote at the beginning of an article; not considered to be a block quote (different layout). |
| Epigraph - Reference | Used to style the source of the epigraph that is not given in a footnote. |
| Drop Cap | Used to style body text paragraph that needs to start with a drop cap. This will typically be the first paragraph in an article, or the first paragraph in a section. |
| Normal Text - No Indent | Used to style body text that is flush-left (i.e., no indent). |
| Normal Text - Indent | Used to style body text that contains a first-line indent. |
| Normal Text - Centered | Used to style body text that must be centered. |
| NT - No Indent w/White Line | Used to style body text that is flush-left (i.e., no indent), and includes white space at the top of the paragraph. |

| Block Quote - Translation w/White Line | Used to style block quotes in a language other than the language of the article, an includes a white space at the top of the paragraph. |
| Block Quote - Reference | Used to style the reference of the block quote, when the source is not a footnote; this is often used when there are a lot of quotes, mainly from primary sources. |

| Poetry - Reference | Used to style the source of the verse/poetry, when the source is not in a footnote. |
| Insert Image | Use to style text that is a placeholder for the typesetter; that is, an indication of the exact place where a table/illustration needs to be inserted (e.g., "Insert Map here"). This content is dropped from the XML. |
