Available in:

PubMed Reference Linking

PubMed Reference Linking will only add the link to the reference’s record on PubMed if a match is made. This clickable hyperlink can be formatted to your organization’s editorial style. For example, the following reference was successfully linked on PubMed and a clickable link to the record (PubMed) is provided in the publisher’s editorial style:

This feature is automatically available in basic eXtyles JATS.

PubMed Reference Correction

PubMed Reference Correction will both add a clickable link to the reference’s PubMed record and add missing information to the reference. For example, in this reference the missing final page number (459) is added:

PubMed Reference Checking/Linking and Correction

PubMed Reference Linking and Correction will add a clickable link to the reference’s PubMed record, add missing information to the reference, and correct mismatches that are discovered. For example, the spelling error in the reference’s title is corrected:

How to use

To run PubMed Reference Checking and/or Correction on a document:

  1. Complete Bibliographic Reference Processing, including the cleanup and reprocessing of all references that eXtyles did not automatically fix.

  2. Select eXtyles > Advanced Processing > PubMed Reference Checking/Correction.

PubMed Reference Checking/Correction should take approximately 30 seconds for 60 references.

Make sure you are connected to the internet before running this process.

Troubleshooting

Sometimes you might receive a message that eXtyles was unable to contact the PubMed website. If you get this message, try again in a few minutes.

If the problem persists:

  1. Check that your internet connection is stable,

  2. Check that the PubMed site is active (i.e., not down), then

  3. Contact eXtyles Support or your network administrator.
